DISTRIBUTION OF WHEELCHAIRS AND PROSTHESIS

According to an online encyclopedia, in year 2010, there are 100 Persons with Disability(PWDs) in every 1,000 households, which comprise1.85 percent ofBicol Region’s populationInthe country,50.9 percentofthe PWDs are male and 49.1 percent are female.

To help the PWDs in Bicol Region, theRotary Club of Naga in partnership with PHYSICIANS FOR PEACEdistributed wheelchairs and prosthesis to chosen recipients lastDecember 14, 2019 at Immaculate Concepcion Parish. This project aimedto empowerand helpthose with physical impairmentsto ease their sufferings. This year, we have partner with PFPwith many projects to supportthePWDs aroundBicol region. We know the importance ofsupportingthese people since they need more care and love. We value their courage as theypursuetheirdreamsdespite ofthephysicalchallenges. As weacknowledge their sufferings, thisproject serves as our initiative to make their lives a little bit easier.Thissuccessful activity willinspire andremind them that they too are an important part of our community. It will furtherempowerand give hope for them tojoin us inworkingtogether towards a progressive country.RC Naga remains committed in aiding PWDsaround the world as we call for asaferspace forthem and as we advocateforsocialinclusivity with no one gettingleft behind

“MAGKAIRIBA SA PAGTABANG” DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF GOODS

According tothe National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Typhoon Tisoy leftat least 9people dead and P811 million worth of agricultural damageas it struck awide swathe of the Philippines.

To help thevictims of typhoon Tisoy, Rotary Club of Naga in partnership with District 3820distributed over2,000 relief goods tothetyphoon victims.Dubbedas “Magkairiba sa Pagtabang,more than 2,000 familiesreceived relief packs last December 8, 2019onselected cities and towns around Sorsogon, Albay and southernCamarines Sur. This activity aimedto provide aid to all the victims of the typhoonespecially sincetheir houses,everyday supplies, livelihood and electric infrastructures were all affected. RC Nagaknows and sees the sufferings ofour brothers and sisters affected by this catastrophe, whichis whythis project serves as our response to their needs.Wehavecontinuouslysupportedpeople who have beenaffected by any disasterfor years, and we will continue to doso until we can. We alsohost activities into improvedisaster preparedness as we call for a more resilientand strongercommunity

CYBERBULLYING: VIRTUAL OFFENSE WITH C ONSEQUENCES

According to the United Nations Children’sFund (UNICEF),online violence, cyber bullyingand digital harassment affect over 70 percent of young people globally. With the rampant abuse inusing social media in our country the organization called our social media users to be more friendly.

In response to this, Rotary Club of Naga in partnership with Ateneo de Naga College of Lawand Rotaract Club of Nagalaunchedthe “Cyberbullying: Virtual Offense with Real Consequences”ForumlastNovember 30, 2019 at Pedro Hall, CBD Plaza Hotel. This activity aims to raise awarenessin regards to the problems associated with cyberbullying.It is alarming that majority of the cyberbullyingvictims are minors aged 1317 and sometimestheyalso received messages of sexual nature or content.We believe that no one must bediscriminated or attacked on social media because these tools must be used on connecting peoplearound the world.This activity aims to spread awareness and to tackle the consequences and on howto avoid being a victim of online bullying. RC Naga remains committed in supporting our youngstersas wecall for a safer online space for everyone.

DEAFNESS AWARENESS PROGRAM

According to World Health Organization, thereare 466 million people in the world withdisabling hearing loss.This is over 5% of the world’s population; 34 million of these people arechildren. Unless action is taken, by 2030 there will be nearly 630 million people with disablinghearing loss.Most of childhood hearing loss cases is preventable if given a medical attention.

However, due to financial constraint they can’t be able to access in medical care that resulted to morecomplications.To address this concern, Rotary Club of Naga in Partnership with Bicol Medical Centerlaunched “Deafness Awareness Program” last November 22, 2019 at Jose Rizal Elementary School inNaga City.this event was made to celebrate the “Deafness Awareness Week of 2019 with a theme“How to Protect Your Hearing”.This activity aims to raise awareness about the importance ofmedical attention in ears, nose and throat (ENT)inprotecting hearing. Present are the doctors andstaff from BMC who shared their knowledge on how to avoid hearing problems. They also encourageeveryone to consult a physician if they are experiencing some disturbances so that they can betreated as early as possible.In addition,more than 155students from Jose Rizal Elementary SchoolandNaga City SPED Center received supplies and mealswith the help of partners. Moreover,Rotarians was also chosen as judges during the poster making contest and preparesprizes for thestudents who excel in promoting deafness awareness through their art.RC Naga remains committedon helping people who havebeen experiencinghearing loss by encouraging social inclusion andsupporting thembyall means

To advocate Environmental protection amid global environmental issues Metro Naga Water District and Rotary Clubof Naga launched the National Environment Awareness and Education Month with atheme Appreciating the Environment for the Futurelast November 29,2019 at NagaCity Eco Park Barangay SanFelipe, Naga CityThis project aims to spread awareness about theimportance of protecting our environment. With the environmental issue that werefacing,it is important that we educate people about these problems and also the consequences attached on it. As human beings, it is our duty to protect our only home ,the mother earth for the next generation.

ANNUAL GIFT GIVING & GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The watershed in Mt.Isarog Natural Park isthe main source of fresh water in Naga Cityand neighboring towns.There are estimatedmillions of populations relying to fresh water from the said watershed. For years, Rotary Club of Naga and Metro Naga Water District works hand on hand to tackle the issue of illegal logging and kaingin in the area. For years we have adopted Rotary Community Corps in Curry Pili, Camarines Sur. These people are formerly illegal loggersand illegal settlers in the protected areas inIsarogthey have created community thatwill guard and protect the said watershed. To check the said community and to extendhelpRC Naga with MNWD launched the“Annual Gift Giving General Assembly at RCC, Pili Camarines Sur last November 24, 2019. This project aims to oversee and help the people residing thereDuring the event,we and our partners provided goods for theresidents in the area. Children in the community actively participatein fun games prepared by rotaractors who are also present during the event. The presence and support of rotaractors is important in sustaining theprojectas we inspire these youngsters to save our environment and to help our community. Wetogether with our partners remaincommitted in ensuring the protection of our environment and source of water so that the next generation will enjoy clean and reliabl drinking waterWe also guarantee ourcommitment for prosperity of the said community
